Supporting SuperSIPs with Bespoke Crane Lifting Solutions.

Founded in 2011 by CEO Les Crossley, SuperSIPs are one of just a few UK manufacturers of SIPs panels supply structurally insulated panels to professional contractors or DIY and self-builders for either commercial or domestic projects.

As the business has grown and the popularity of modern methods of construction has shifted to off-site manufacture, the handling and installation of the SIPs panels has started to present a business challenge to Les and his team.

Larger and heavier panels moved by hand is not only more time consuming and eats into site efficiencies, but it also carries safety risks. Therefore, an improved way of working was required to help keep up with the market demand for SuperSIPs solutions.

Les initially reached out to the Tip N Lift team after conducting some local research to see what options were suitable for him. The fact that the two businesses are only a few miles apart in Suffolk was an added bonus in his decision to commission the order. The initial specification was for a specific type of crane which could lift approximately one tonne of product into position. This purpose designed solution needed to also attach to a forklift with a long reach allowing for the panels to be swung into position on site.

However, versatility and making sure the crane was multi-purpose was also a major requirement for Les as he needed to maximise the investment he was making into crane technology. So, the crane was designed to be de-mountable and allowing it to be reallocated onto another primary mover – either a forklift or a trailer. This added flexibility enabled the crane to also be used for steel movement.

From the moment Les approached Tip N Lift he was impressed with their expertise and passion for delivering the solution that met and exceeded the requirements of the specification. For Les he sees significant advantages of making the shift. Panels that once required manual lifting can now be handled quickly and safely meaning on-site efficiency has dramatically improved. The equipment has proved extremely useful not only for SIPs, but also for other aspects of the construction, delivery and install of the panels.

“Before the crane, manually moving and installing the panels was all we were able to do,” said Les. “We have been able to move from hand-balling panels and the different challenges that gave us to a crane-based solution which the team love.”

“I would 100% recommend Tip N Lift to any company looking to move to crane solutions for the products they deliver. They are incredibly professional, and we not only got what we needed but much more to help other parts of the process.”
